Solid Phase Extraction Cartridge Selection Guide

Solid phase extraction (SPE) cartridge is one of the most important sample preparation technique in current laboratory sample analysis . Used under SPE, many of the problems associated with liquid/liquid extraction can be prevented, such as incomplete phase separations, less-than-quantitative recoveries, use of expensive, breakable specialty glassware, and disposal of large quantities of organic solvents. SPE is used most often to prepare liquid samples and extract semi-volatile or nonvolatile analytes, but also can be used together with solids items which are pre-extracted into solvents. It is widely used in food inspection, agriculture , environmental samples and biological sample target analytes sample preparation.

Selecting the most suitable product for each application and sample is important

1.Select according to target analytes and disruptors

2.Select from sample load and volume
For reverse phase, normal phase and adsorption type SPE cartridges, the quantity of target analytes to SPE sorbent ratio is generally not more than 5%. For ion exchange SPE cartridges, need to consider the ion exchange capacity.
